Treatments for venous disorders and insufficiencies like varicose veins are extremely common. Some Commonwealth Vascular patients seek vein treatment for cosmetic reasons, while others desire physical relief from venous disease.
The most popular reason for vein treatment is varicose veins. Besides unsightly skin discolorations, varicose veins may also lead to complications such as blood clots and venous ulceration. Common discomforts associated with varicose veins include leg aching, fatigue, ankle swelling, muscle cramping, itching, burning and restlessness.
The vein treatments Dr. Matthew McBee offers at Commonwealth Vascular improve such conditions and prevent more extensive vein disease and related complications from developing.
Our Vein Treatments include:
- Endovenous Laser Ablation: Endovenous laser ablation is a treatment that often eliminates the need for surgery when affected veins are causing pain or embarrassment. We use laser energy to cause veins to collapse and seal shut. The body then automatically routes the blood flow to other healthy veins. The procedure takes little time, and requires only a local anesthetic.
- Sclerotherapy: Sclerotherapy is an injection treatment for unsightly varicose veins and spider veins. The procedure is performed in our office, and causes only minimal discomfort. The number of sessions required for treatment depends on the type and number of abnormal veins.
- Compression Stockings: Compression stockings are a part of the vein treatment process. Therefore we are providing a list of where you can find medical grade stockings. Please keep in mind these are necessary but your insurance plan may or may not cover them. You will need a prescription from your doctor if you order them online or you are seen at a medical supply facility.
